BFL Gloves
April 30th, 2008 by BJB
I’m having so much fun knitting these gloves! For years I’ve shied away from knitting gloves, thinking they’d be too difficult but they’re not at all. I love seeing the fingers knit up, one by one.
The yarn is Blue Faced Leicester which I spun myself. The roving was included as a thank you gift when I ordered my spinning wheel from Spunky Eclectic. It’s handpainted in shades of blue with the natural grey of the fleece left untouched. The pattern, Feminine Gloves, is from the Winter 2007 edition of Spin Off magazine.
The blues set off the blue of my daughter’s eyes beautifully. The gloves are for her, to ward off the cold damp Vancouver days– next winter.
But…with the gloves 2/3 complete, I’ve run out of wool and had to order more roving to spin. While I wait for it to arrive I’ll start spinning the top I bought for my own pair of gloves. I’ll definitely need a pair of these myself next winter!
