Bloomed

My Dogpaw Shawl is complete! Shown here with one of the dogs, Billy, from whence the dog hair fiber came.
This is one project that definitely ‘bloomed’ after blocking. When I cast off yesterday I wasn’t too sure about the success of this endeavor, but now that its’ been washed and blocked it looks completely different.
I made it smaller than the pattern called for. Mine is 53 inches by 32 inches-shawlette size. I don’t like huge wrap around shawls; I like something I can throw over my shoulders which won’t get in the way when I’m moving… I don’t sit still too often.
This picture, taken indoors, without a flash, shows the dogpaw pattern upclose. You can also see the soft fawn, Wheaten colour running through the shawl. (I carded Corriedale wool fleece and dog hair together for spinning.)
I’m done with doghair spinning for the moment, now that this shawl is complete and Cornelius’s yarn has been mailed to him. I’m moving on to my next challenge - spinning up lots of natural white Corriedale for handpainting and playing with colour!
