The Next Level
February 18th, 2008 by BJB
Our school knitting club has moved onto the next level of knitting adventure. After making many headbands, wristbands and little purses, our students have decided to knit for charity. When we suggested knitting 6″x6″ squares for a blanket, which they could donate to a charity of their choice, they couldn’t get their squares cast on quick enough! Groups of students clustered together around the library, knitting furiously and discussing which would be the best charity to donate the blanket to. A local women’s shelter seemed to top the list.
Many of these students come from some of the poorest families in our city and yet their generosity is enthusiastic and without question.
This project has united all of our members in a common purpose and taken our knitting club to a new level. We figure we need at least 64 squares, so anyone reading this who wants to send us a square or two, is invited to leave a comment after this post, and I’ll contact you. Please be sure to give me your email address.
