The Knitting Pen

Wild and Warm

January 13th, 2009 by BJB

The last thing my daughter needed for Christmas was yet another pair of fingerless gloves but when I saw this pattern in the latest edition of Spin Off magazine, I had to knit them.  The free pattern is available here:  wild and warm

Surprisingly, I didn’t have any handspun vicuna yarn on hand, as called for in the pattern, so I used Lorna’s Laces  sock yarn in the  ‘Shadow’ colurway. The result is slightly finer, more elegant gloves with an interesting salt and pepper effect.  I’m really happy with the result.  Some understanding of lace knitting is required but overall these are fairly easy and enjoyable to knit.
